I realized this morning that I neglected to add this lovely bird to yesterday’s post. Maybe because it deserves a post of its own.
This species is endemic to Western Mexico. We were seeing it from afar…

Then, on the last day of birding when our van driver stopped in Aticama to get one of the tires repaired, we took a little walk around the town and found this bird sitting on a wire.

Great shots! Good looking bird! 🙂
Thanks! The tire repair was fortuitous. 🙂
Good work.
Thanks!
That bird is stunning! The yellow eye ring is so perfect.
I’m just so glad I got to see it up close because frankly most of the birds were, well, far away. Passerines, anyway.
Pretty bird!
Thanks! I love it when unusual birds show up nonchalantly in the neighborhood. 🙂
Cool bird!
Yeah, right? Trogons aren’t always so easy to see. We got lucky with this one.
